About

London Based UX practitioner

Hi, my name is DARREN AMER. I am a User Experience Designer, Researcher and Strategist with over 20 years’ experience developing digital products and websites to enhance usability, engagement, maximise revenues and create great experiences.

My expertise have grown to encompass Customer Experience, UI, Interaction, Product and Service Design. Over my career I have led and ran projects and also set up new teams and departments specifically for achieving companies’ strategic objectives.

I also help to direct and galvanise companies, teams and C-Suite stakeholders to define strategies, roadmaps, conduct research and analysis.  I translate these findings into clear, actionable insights to create the best products and deliver great experiences and results.

I have proven experience of UCD design principles and methodologies to include conducting competitor analysis and benchmarking, creating user journeys, user flows, IA’s, sitemaps, wireframes and interactive prototypes. I have extensive experience conducting user research and usability testing with the ability to plan, conduct and analyse these studies using in-person, remote and online methods.

In the past I ran my own UX networking event and podcast and although that has since ceased, I still arrange and attend the unofficial meet up which has fallen out of it. I also run 2 to 3 creative projects each year to further my knowledge in different disciplines which fit under the large umbrella of UX. Currently I am working on a gaming application and a narrative storytelling website.

In addition to this I’m also a proud Playmaker for the Palace For Life Foundation (part of Crystal Palace Football Club) where I support the foundation in their digital objectives as well as help to try and unlock the creative potential of young people in the local area.

“Questions about whether design is necessary or affordable are quite beside the point: design is inevitable. The alternative to good design is bad design, not no design at all.”
